With aspirations to research and write, along with some teaching, I use this blog to maintain an occasional reflective journal of my more recent educational exploits as a student, teacher, a PhD scholar and a newbie social entrepreneur.
A project manager by profession, I retired from industry in 2017 and completed a postgraduate certificate in Digital Education online at the University of Edinburgh. In January 2019 I commenced a part-time structured PhD programme in E-Research and Technology Enhanced Learning at Lancaster University. My thesis explored the area of digital skills and lifelong learning amongst older adults in Ireland.
In December 2019, having completed the PACT short course offered by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Ireland, a journey that started out as a series of blog posts developed into a fully fledged learning portfolio. I still think of it as my learning journal, sharing a few tips along the way.
In August 2024, I took up a full-time role as Teaching Fellow in Project Management at the University of Limerick where I have taught part-time in one role or another for 20 years. This role has afforded me an opportunity to include my fledgling teaching portfolio in this learning journal. My lifelong learning journey continues…
