It seems that reflecting on the year that has passed is something that bloggers do, but I don’t consider myself a blogger (yet!). Nevertheless, here are a few lessons that I’ve learned from 2017 and will use to guide me in 2018. They are not, however, New Year resolutions….
- Time is a precious commodity, spend it wisely. Don’t waste it on anything you don’t like. This leads me to #2.
- Love what you do. Life is too short to have regrets. I’ve always loved reading and during 2017 I’ve started learning how to read critically and while it’s a challenge, the learning process is very enjoyable.
- On the topic of learning, there are so many opportunities to learn, many of them free through the online offering of MOOCs. It’s never too late and who knows what the future might hold.
- For years I’ve enjoyed collecting notebooks but rarely had time to write in them. Starting a blog has allowed me to share some of my thoughts and I’ve learned how to be aware of my digital footprint. This has renewed my enthusiasm for writing so more regular blog posts in 2018 are likely.
- Finally, all of these lessons depend on having good health, both mental and physical, so this should really be #1 rather than #5!
Overall, it’s been an inspiring year and I look forward to 2018. May I offer warm wishes for the year ahead to anyone who happens upon this post.
